Nope, I never read in cafes. I'd like to though, but I've got 2 little kids and it would end up being a horrible experience!

Occasionally I'll read in Starbucks... Merely thats generally because it's in a barnes & noble, and I have to wait for someone. It's kind of like reading in a classroom, alot of things to ignore, simply alright to read in.
I love reading in cafes. I live in Oakland, California, home to lots of independent java shops with comfy chairs -- some fifty-fifty have small libraries where you tin exit a volume/accept a book. While I practise appreciate the predictability of a Starbuck's latte -- most of their stores effectually hither are too crowded/loud for practiced reading. I experience bad if I'm taking up a seat for too long (though folks on their laptops never seem to mind). When I feel like my house is a little also quiet, and I want to be part of the world, without quite beingness role of the earth, I discover nothing more relaxing than reading in a cafe.
I accept read in cafes if I am waiting for someone (just a magazine - if I carried books around with me I would never get anything washed)! NEVER in Starbucks...they serve truly horrible coffee! (And aye, we do have Starbucks in New Zealand).

When I lived in NYC I often read in little java shops/cafes. My apartment was so small that those places became my living room.At present that I am in the wild and wooly suburbs, my favorite identify to read is curled upwardly on my bed. I always deport a book with me wherever I go, though, just in case!

In my mind, cafes were made for reading. :-) I love to sit down in one of the overstuffed chairs, particularly in the shops with a fireplace, and read. I never go out home without a book in my purse, you lot never know when you lot're going to get tied up someplace. In my case, it's walking domicile from an errand, appointment or work and getting the bug for a coffee. And what's a java without a book? I'grand fortunate to live in the metropolis and ane that is full of coffee shops and bookstores. Nirvana! You can tell I was a girl sentry in my childhood...thier motto is "exist prepared"!
Being a country boy, I tin only wonder: "Café? What café?"
That'southward funny! Just how far in the country ARE y'all? Even my little midwest boondocks where I grew upwards now has a cafe. :-)
A cafe is the only identify where i can have my caffe latte and arctic undisturbed with a practiced volume for hours. And, once in while, look up to quietly watch the globe go by...I try to do this in one case a week - information technology's very therapeutic!
You lot aren't missing much New England! In my experience...ameliorate coffee and company at dwelling....also improve for reading!
reading in a buffet is and so picturesque and reminds me of the French! lolInformation technology'd be pretty cool to exercise that onetime though; maybe grab a cup of tea(herbal, my option) and totally chill. lol
Karen -- Well, I'thou certainly not out in the sticks, just the 'burbs. Perchance I have a different definition of "café" than others. On hearing the word, I think of Paris, too -- outdoor tables and chairs, umbrellas, statues of Marshall Ney, the whole neuf yards. Of course nosotros take little coffee houses in my area, and some of them fifty-fifty park a few tables out in front (as if that makes them a café!). Mais non, mes amies (et amis). Ce n'est-pas le meme chose.
And Debbie, I'grand with y'all on Starbucks -- their coffee tastes similar burnt toast. I'd have Dunkin Donuts whatever day of the week (or strong), just prefer my own from home. Black, thank you. No messing with java (sugar, milk, cream, etc.).
And yeah, I own books sporting java stains. Badges of honor, that.
Nosotros don't have Dunkin' Donuts here in NZ then I couldn't maybe comment on that!! Badges of accolade indeed...I have a friend who is so completely anal about how pristine her books are I am certain she tin can't comport to read them!!! One-half of mine have been read so many times they are missing covers and accept lots of badges!!!
Coffee stains are OK, it's the food stains that are not and so cool (esp. when causing pages to stick together or taking on a three-dimensional shape). Yeesh.
depends on the mood and the drinkable. I usually end up at a Starbucks and read for a couple of hours; information technology also depends on what sort of seat I can go; if I am at 1 of the tables, then its side by side to incommunicable to read, but if I become i of the more comfortable chairs, then I will do then or if the weather is squeamish outside, and so I volition read for a couple of hours on one of their exterior tables.
I actually like reading in a java shop, simply I normally get my java to become; the but fourth dimension I sit is when I'm meeting someone. If I had time and didn't call up I'd exist spotted past anyone that knows me (and would come up over and talk to me) I'd love reading in a Starbucks. We have a few places with outdoor seating that I call back I want to try reading and eating at once the weather gets overnice.
I used to always read at Starbucks, but they got rid of my favorite syrup and I am not intrested in being there anymore. I do savour reading outside, if I accept fourth dimension the library has an area with benches and tables I'll read there. I don't eat out much but if I did I would read so too.
I think that some "be independent" manufactures I've read say to bring a book with you when you're eating by yourself (if it will make you lot more comfortable) and some have said don't bring i. I don't get the chance to eat at a restaurant very much, just I like to bring my volume and so I tin can avoid staring accidentally at people, while lost in idea.
I read in restaurants when I get out by myself -- otherwise I feel awkward BEING alone.
You're NEVER solitary when you have a expert book!

Very true... very true. With a book I feel I have friends around me. And every then oftentimes, someone will comment on the book I'm reading, and there's a very cool, cursory connection betwixt me and a stranger.
I used to, merely not whatsoever more. I find cafes quite noisy and I adopt being relaxed at habitation enjoying the volume :) I would read at parks or on the beach :)

Too much noise... I'll read if I'k waiting for someone, but otherwise, I avert reading at buffet'south-- it's hard to totally escape (probably because I'yard nosey and terminate up watching people instead).
I carry a book with me at all times!

I used to read in cafes a lot, but stopped because of likewise much noise. As well, people were always talking to me. Now, I more often than not read at abode, especially in the evening, right earlier I get to bed. That seems to piece of work out the best.
In Cracow in that location is a cafe joined with a bookstore. You lot can get a java, have a volume from a shelf and read information technology before buying. Information technology's called Massolit Cafe.
No because the noise is too distracting.
for me, so much depends on the book. When I'thou actually excited and interested, I read everywhere. At dwelling, while eating food, in the way to motorcoach station, in the motorbus, walking to the identify, and in the buffet if any plan to go there.
I go on doing this until the book is finished or a big fight with the family is started!
I also e'er carry a book with me. And I love to read in cafés, but I hardly ever exercise. Mainly because I don't find the perfect café to exercise so...And Starbucks etc.-places are not very prissy here, the people always make you experience like you aren't cool enough to exist there. ;)
I loved to read in cafés when I was in Barcelona, I also think Spanish cafés (and coffee) are the all-time.
There is ane buffet in boondocks, The 61C, named for the bus route in that neighborhood, where I like to read. It has better coffee than Starbucks and doesn't take that off-putting corporate absurd decor that I take come to despise. The 61C has an outside patio and big plate glass windows in front end, not bad for reading or just people watching.Every bit far equally coffee goes, if I have to drink Columbian coffee, Dunkin Donuts is OK. But I'thousand addicted to dark roasts, especially French Roast. I used to swear by Peet'southward from Berkeley, but lately I've switched to Seattle's All-time. It probably doesn't compares to Peet's fresh roasted from the store, but the store is @ 2500 miles away! SB travels ameliorate and costs less!
I may have to read in a buffet this weekend just because I haven't done it in forever. Those of y'all who do read in cafes, do you read in the big comfy chairs or exercise you become a small tabular array?
Lori wrote: "I may have to read in a cafe this weekend only because I haven't done information technology in forever. I generally read at a small table, just when they are bachelor, I get to the large comfy chairs.
I try to read in big comfy chairs, simply if they aren't available I read at a minor time.
I'm really going to have to put a concord on Starbucks expenditures because I spent $23 on a really bad repast final night and it's definitely hurt this month's budget.
I love to read in cafes, but don't get too that often because of the picayune one. Reading in a cafe in Europe sounds lovely and I call back it'southward more widely accustomed than in America (though they might be reading the newspaper instead). I always read at a tabular array considering the comfortable chairs are taken, and because a table helps go along me alarm.
Lori wrote: "I'm really going to have to put a hold on Starbucks expenditures considering I spent $23 on a really bad meal terminal night and it'due south definitely hurt this month'due south upkeep." Lori - don't yous hate when that happens? That sum spent on a good repast would exist money well spent, merely when you lot're sitting there thinking, "I could have stayed at dwelling house and had ramen noodles ...) Ouch!
I accept to vote for the table in cafe's, as the big comfy chairs aren't skilful for my back.
I don't read in cafes/java shops just I love to grab 1 of the big chairs in Barnes & Nobe or Borders or the library and get lost in a volume for an hour or and then.
I, likewise, live in Oakland, California simply I am a silence reader. If I'm out amongst people, I'm also inclined to people sentinel rather than read. I too read all-time with silence.
Earlier kids, I would sit with a book in a coffee shop, I would ussually only scout people, because I am easily distracted. Afterward kids, nope. Non when I have them with me, and if I don't take them with me, at that place is likewise much else I could exist using my fourth dimension to do.
nope. i can only read in total silence.
sometimes I volition read in Starbucks or Tullys but the kids don't have too much patience for information technology so I don't usually get more than 20 minutes earlier we will have to get out. Considering the Tully's has a volume sharing shelf I oftentimes go there to donate books that I have finished so if I am just well-nigh the finish of one and want a coffee then I can finish the book upwards while I drink my coffee then leave the book.
I don't like to read in public. I can't get comfortable and I can't concentrate--too many distractions. I like to watch people as well, but I don't like them watching me. add: link encompass
